make people safe IN NAGORNO KARABAKH
When war broke out in Nagorno Karabakh in September 2020, thousands of families were forced from their homes. After the ceasefire, they returned to find their houses, roads, and yards strewn with deadly explosives like cluster munitions.
HALO is responding by locating and destroying these dangerous items in Armenian-controlled towns and villages. We are also deploying teams to teach communities, especially children, how to notice and avoid explosive hazards they may encounter.
HALO is the only international organisation working to protect the people of Karabakh from explosives. Support us, and together, we can build families a safer future.
Al Jazeera's Rory Challands, reporting from Stepanakert, examines the dangers faced by families in Nagorno Karabakh and reports on HALO's work to destroy the lethal explosives being found in civilian areas.
